I walk outside with my lantern, my lantern is walking with me…
Be prepared and make a beautiful lantern at the library on Friday.
Story at 3.30pm, lights to be shined right after

Book Drive
Are you looking for a way to spread some Holiday cheer and share the joy of reading? We are collecting new or gently used German language children’s books to donate to the SOS Kinderdorf! Our book drive starts tomorrow and will go until Saturday December 7th! 🎄📚🎅🎄

CEL News – A thank you and holiday closing

A big thank you to all who were involved in the open day on Saturday, both volunteers and visitors. I’ve just added up our takings on the cake stand and I’m pleased to say we made 233€!!!!
That means we can order some fab new books 📚

CEL will be closed from Saturday 26th October until Saturday 2nd November inclusive for the school holidays. We will be open on Friday 8th November.

Are you ready for the CEL Open Day?

And as they gazed, they sniffed and sighed.
The library is big and the world is wide!
How I long to play!”
Said the children that day.

Not long now! The CEL Open Day is just around the corner – October 19. Join us from 10am to 4pm for games, songs, crafts, readings and fun throughout the day as we celebrate the contribution Julia Donaldson has made to children’s literature.

(Our CEL Open Day posts have featured slightly adapted verse from The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom and The Snail and the Whale. Did you catch it?)
See you soon!

This Friday…

FRIDAY FUNTIME

We’ll be making tissue paper kites this Friday at the library to celebrate the gusty autumn weather. Join us for this fun activity!
Book from 330pm, activity straight after.

NB: I WILL be handing out some fun-size chocolates because i simply cannot figure out any other way to make kite tail bows – trust me, i thought about it heaps – chocolates will be necessary 😋
Hopefully see you there!

October’s Spotlight is on…

… of course, our Halloween books.

We have so many great Halloween books at CEL, they’re truly not to be missed. In Picture Books we have “Room on the Broom” by Julia Donaldson, in Early Readers we have “The Witch who was Afraid of Witches” by Alice Low, in JF we have, of course “The Worst Witch” by Jill Murphy and in Teen we have “10 Spooky Stories” by R.L. Stine. Come check one out today!

Volunteers needed…

The CEL Open Day is on October 19 and we’re still looking for volunteers to help with activities as well as library management. We could also use some cake donations to support our bake sale.

If you’ve been looking to get involved with the library, this is an excellent opportunity. Meet other members and experience everything the library offers our community.

Simply reply “I’ll volunteer” to openday@celstuttgart.de and we’ll be in touch.

Lego Workshop and Summer Reading Challenge Prizes

With the start of the school year, the Summer Reading Challenge has come to an end! ☀️📚☀️

Bring your reading log to the library, show it to the desk volunteer and get your prize and certificate beginning tomorrow through Saturday October 12th!

Stop by the library on Saturday September 21st anytime from 3:00-4:30 for a LEGO Challenge! Spin the wheel or pick a card to test your LEGO skills! All ages welcome and no need to sign up! Hope to see you there! 🚗🚀🚤🏠🐊

Friday 13th Sept – CEL closed in the morning, but open in the afternoon…

Due to lack of a volunteer we will sadly be closed on Friday morning, 13th September, there will also be no Rhyme Time this week.

However, we will be open in the afternoon and you can join Claire and the crew for FRIDAY FUNTIME – Fun and Games!
(If we can find all the bits) we’ll be bringing some of our favourite board games to the library. Come play a round of Monopoly, Mensch ärger dich nicht (Trouble, when i was a kid), Yatzee, Chess, Taboo or UNO or why not bring your own favourite to share with us!
Book at 1530, games right after

Saturday opening starts again this week – Saturday 14th September.
