Important CEL Update

Dear Members,

CEL is MOVING!

CEL is closed until further notice due to the Corona Virus Prevention Measures currently in place. When we are able to reopen we will be in our new location …

Hauptstraße 19, Stuttgart-Vaihingen.
The entrance is on the side of the building and we are located up the stairs on the first floor.
Nearest Bus/UBahn Vaihingen Schillerplatz, also walking distance from S-Bahn.

Until further notice we will not be able to offer contactless lending. We will review the options for this in our new location in due course. For the moment please just hold on to your current books and we will renew them all.

Wishing you a good start to the new year,
The CEL Board

CEL is moving!

We have great news! The Children’s English Library has found a new home!
We will be moving in the New Year to Stuttgart-Vaihingen. We feel lucky to have found a bright and lovely space on the Main Street in Vaihingen across from the beloved Corso Theater!
Exact moving dates are still to be determined due to the Lockdown restrictions but we hope to be moved in and ready to go by the end of January.
More details to come!
If anyone has moving boxes/sturdy medium sized boxes to donate for the move, we would appreciate it. Let us know at info@celstuttgart.de to arrange drop-off/pick-up.

Thank you for supporting our Book Drive

Our 2nd Annual Children’s Book Drive was a huge success! A big thank you to everyone that donated books and helped spread the word. We collected more than 900 books!!!
We were able to donate books to 8 different organizations that included six Children’s Homes, two Mother/Children Group Homes, and one Café for women and children refugees.
All of the people at these different organizations were so happy to receive these books and so grateful that we thought of these kids and families.
Please tell your children that the books they donated helped to spread some love to some kids that needed it. Thank you all so much for participating and let’s do it again next year!

CEL Closed.

Dear Members,
Following the announcement today, by the Landesregierung in Baden-Würrtemberg, that people should stay at home where ever possible, we have taken the decision to close CEL for the rest of this year.
In the spirit of keeping our members and volunteers safe, we feel it better not to encourage you to come in to town. If you are out and about for work etc. and would like to contactlessly return your books, or collect some to keep the children occupied during the pre-Christmas period, this will be possible – subject to availability of our contactless volunteer. Please e-mail contactless@celstuttgart.de
We wish all our members a healthy year end and hope things get easier in 2021.

Our gift certificates cost €50 and cover a year’s library membership for the whole family. There’s something for everyone in the family thanks to our catalogue of over 7000 books, audiobooks, games and media items.

Ordering is easy. If you’re at the library, simply ask the desk volunteer. If you can’t make it to the library order online https://celstuttgart.de/membership/cel-gift-membership/

Book Profile – Room on the broom

One of our most borrowed books is the modern day classic from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. A fun tale of a friendly witch and her unique group of companions, it’s a fun ride from start to finish. If you haven’t already, check it out when you’re next at CEL.

Second Annual Children’s Book Drive

Dear CEL Members,
The second annual Children’s Book Drive begins this week. We will once again be collecting new or gently used German language children’s books to donate to local children’s homes.

This has been a hard year for many, unimaginably hard for my family. Let’s try to do something good and spread some Holiday cheer to some children that could use it.

Please help us to make this book drive a success by donating books if you can and by spreading the word to others.

Thank you for your help,

Liz Weiser
