Take-home Christmas Activity Packets

We aren’t able to have our normal library activities and special holiday workshops this year so we have made up some fun take-home Christmas Activity Packets!

We have color pages for the little ones and packets for the bigger ones with I SPY, Emoji Pictionary, a Scavenger Hunt, and a color by letter page!

So when you come to the library, starting tomorrow until Christmas break, you can pick one up at the front desk and have some fun at home!
If you can’t make it into CEL we have added some Christmas stories for pre-schoolers and school children to our virtual story time so you can join in with the seasonal fun. http://celstuttgart.de/books/virtual-story-time/ If you need the password please ask info@celstuttgart.de

Please remember our 2nd Annual Children’s Book drives goes until December 5th! We are looking for donations of new or gently used German language Children’s books to give to local Children’s Homes! Help us spread some Holiday cheer and share the joy of reading!

Second Annual Children’s Book Drive

Dear CEL Members,
The second annual Children’s Book Drive begins this week. We will once again be collecting new or gently used German language children’s books to donate to local children’s homes.

This has been a hard year for many, unimaginably hard for my family. Let’s try to do something good and spread some Holiday cheer to some children that could use it.

Please help us to make this book drive a success by donating books if you can and by spreading the word to others.

Thank you for your help,

Liz Weiser
Chair, CEL Board

Half-term and looking for new volunteers…

Dear Members,

CEL will be closed on Saturdays 24th and 31st October due to the school holidays.
On Friday 30th October we will be open in the morning only – unless a volunteer signs up for the afternoon in the next week!

On the subject of volunteers… we have lost two of our old hands due to relocation over the summer.  If you would like to join our team of desk volunteers we are offering training dates in the near future. There can probably only be one or two trainees per session due to distancing etc. but if you would like to join our pool of volunteers for Fridays or Saturdays please contact Emma – emma.fuch@celstuttgart.de and let her know which of the dates below you could make

Wed evening 11th November
Or
Wednesday morning 25th November
Or
Saturday morning 28th November

We are doing our best to keep the library open in these difficult times, whilst keeping our volunteers and members as safe as possible. Many thanks for helping with this.

Stay well and keep reading,

the CEL Team

New Online Stories

As the nights darken (and the covid figures rise 🙁 ) we have added some new stories to our virtual collection.
The Beasties, Room on the Broom, Darkness Slipped in, The Darkest Dark and Sarah’s little ghosts … and there are lots more stories on line for 3-12 year olds to have a listen to…
If you need the password again please let us know – info@celstuttgart.de
Stay safe and keep reading…

CEL update – opening times and AGM

We are pleased to announce that CEL will be open on

Fridays 10:00-12:00
Saturdays 14:00-17:00

and additionally this Friday 18th September from 14:30-17:30

for the return and borrowing of books.
We hope to be able to offer more Friday afternoons – currently it is looking like we have volunteers once a month – please check the website calendar for exact details.

Please remember that Corona Prevention Measures still apply and we can not currently offer any activities at CEL.

We look forward to seeing you to change your books in the near future.

Annual General Meeting – our AGM is scheduled for Thursday 24th September at 19:30 please let Jane jane.eggert@celstuttgart.de know if you would like to attend either in person or via zoom and she will give you more details.

CEL Opening – Update

CEL will be closed on Friday 11th September.

From 18th September, after the summer holidays, Covid-19 permitting, we will be open on Friday mornings 10:00-12:00 and then we hope to open either Friday or Saturday afternoon – or both. But, we currently don’t have enough volunteers signed up for either afternoon to offer a regular service. If you are a trained volutneer please check the doodles – if you haven’t seen them just ask and we will send you the link.

Please watch your e-mails / Facebook / the CEL website for opening time updates.

As term starts again and figures for Covid-19 cases locally continue to rise we will not be offering any activities at CEL and our prevention measures remain in place, but we do hope that you can continue to come in and borrow books to read with your children at home.

Stay healthy and hope to see you soon.
Best regards,
The CEL Team
