CEL Summer Events – come and join us

Hello Members,

We would like to invite you to a summer get-together at the Katzenbacher Hof on Saturday June 24th from 11-3. There is a cash only food and beverage kiosk, picnic tables, and a large playground. It’s a great opportunity to socialize and meet other members. We hope you can join us!

Our Summer Reading Challenge Starts on July 1st. The reading logs will be available to pick up at the library. All ages are welcome to participate- read yourself or have someone read to you! See more details on the flyer below.

Don’t forget this Saturday is Yoga in the Park at 2pm in the Vaihinger Stadtpark. All ages welcome. Please bring a towel or blanket to place under your yoga mat. No sign up required. After the yoga class, stop by the library and exchange your books!

Best wishes and happy reading,
the CEL board

School Holiday Closure …

During the Pfingstferien which begins Saturday May 27th and lasts until Sunday June 11th, CEL is only open on the Friday afternoons of June 2 and 9th. We have volunteers signed up for both of those days.

But, this does mean the planned watercolour workshop has had to be cancelled as CEL is not open that Saturday.

CEL Closed – Saturday 13th May

Dear Members,

Apologies but our volunteer for today has had to cancel.
We have been unable to find a replacement at short notice and need to take the decision to close and send out mails about this now, in order to save you a wasted journey.

We will be open on Friday next week as usual, the next two Saturdays we still need volunteers for – if you are a trained desk volunteer please check your calendars.
For everyone else please keep your eye on the emails in case we can’t find anyone.

best regards,

The CEL Board

Help us choose our books

Why not try our new stock selection tool? You can vote for books other people have suggested – or suggest your own choices for purchase.

Stock Selection

You do not need to create an account to select a book. Just put in your first and last name, a valid e-mail address and a dummy password.

Add the title of the book you wish to suggest for purchasing.
(Check our catalogue first to make sure we don’t already have a copy https://celstuttgart.de/books/online-catalogue/)

Add any additional description, author, ISBN etc.
In Tags you can let us know if it is a BB, PB, ER, JF, Teen or non-Fiction book.
If you want to you can attach the book cover image.

Before you can click Push you must answer the sum. In the example here the sum is 6-8 so you would enter -2.

We are looking forward to receiving your suggestions.

“Blind Date with a Book” Event for Adults – Friday 5th May 19:30

You’re Invited!

Open to all CEL members.
How “Blind Date with a Book” works:
  1. Bring a book you’re ready to part with, but wrap it up so no one can tell what it is.
  2. Include a few clues to give everyone a sense of what it is without unveiling the title, author, or cover.
  3. At the event, everyone will select a book and go home with a new read!
Please RSVP to me via email  blinddate@celstuttgart.de so we know how many people to expect. See you on May 5!

Alex

PS Don’t forget this Saturday morning from 10-12 is our annual Spring Clean at the library. We would appreciate all the help we can get! There will be coffee and donuts! 🧼🪣🧹🧽☕️🍩☕️🍩
